What We Do

The  volunteers of Farmland PTA work year round to provide a variety of programs, activities, resources, outreach, staff support and much more. Here is a sampling of what your membership dues and donations support at Farmland…

Artist in Residence/Poet in Residence  PTA financially supplements the grants for these two valuable enrichment programs offered at Farmland.

Big Learning  Creative engineering classes offered fall, winter and spring for grades 2-4. Toymaking, Building Big and Small and EcoKID.2011 Fall Toymaking

Chorus  and Le Clevique Opera Company Farmland PTA significantly contributes to the funding of these amazing showcases of student talent!

Communications  Periodic newsletters sent home via backpack mail in addition to eNews.  PTA also hosts a website, Facebook page and is on Twitter!

Cultural Arts Assemblies PTA funds quarterly cultural arts assemblies for students.  In October students will enjoy Antonio Rocha as he brings the sights and sounds of the rainforest alive in Jungle Tales” and Crossroads”.  In January 2012, students will experience the dazzling acrobatic stunts and feats of balance, flexibility, strength and coordination of the Fabulous Chinese Acrobats.  Some past favorites have been Reptile Man, The Rainforest Chorus, Step Afrika, Robert Kikuchi Asian Fantastic Musical Theater, and the Smithsonian Black Diamonds Musical Theater!

Fall Carnival Our first “BIG” social event of the year and a fall fundraiser.  Carnival games, treats and fun… all to support Farmland PTA. Volunteers needed to assist with booths, cake walk, and more. Volunteers needed to help with all aspects of this fun event!

Family Bingo Night Come out for night of family fun… pizza and prizes, too!

Family Dance Put on your dancing shoes and show us your best Chicken Dance and Electric slide…

Family Fun Run An opportunity for students and their families to join their Farmland friends for a Saturday Morning Fun Run.  Let’s Move!

Foreign Language in Elementary Schools (FLES) French, Spanish and Mandarin offered fall, winter and spring.

Geography Bowl Each spring, students are invited to complete Geography study packets and participate in quizzes to earn a spot  representing their class in a challenge of geographic superstar knowledge!

Hands on Science  Playful, inquiry based science enrichment classes offered fall, winter and spring.(HOS_winter_registration)

Health and Safety programs Farmland PTA funds the Safety Patrol program, participates in National Walk to School Day and promotes healthy lifestyles throughout the year.

International Night Our most attended event all year! Experience the cultures and countries that share our world.  An evening of music, dance and talented student performances.  Browse the tables displaying each country’s unique people, places and history.

Kindergarten Orientation Hospitality Suite

New Family Welcome PTA serves as a resource to all families joining the Farmland Elementary School community.

Parent Education  A topic of interest to parents is offered at each of four General Membership PTA meetings throughout the year.

Reflections Arts Showcase A program of the National PTA.  Students are encouraged to enter original works in various categories (visual arts, literature, photography, dance choreography, video production and music composition).  Local winners  have the opportunity to move on to district, state and national competitions.

Restaurant Nights Out Farmland PTA hosts periodic fundraisers at local restaurants.  Join us for a night out with friends!

Scarecrow Literary Gazette Students share their literary and artistic talents in a printed magazine, distributed each spring.

Scholastic Book Fair PTA hosts a week-long shopping opportunity in the media center for students and families to purchase Scholastic books at great prices and raise funds for PTA!   October 17-20, 2011 and evening shopping opportunities on 10/19 and 10/20 with special reading appearances from some of your Farmland teachers! Volunteers needed to help with set-up, clean-up and book fair shifts.

Science Fair An event not to be missed! Student scientists show off their skills with displays and demonstrations of all kinds of experiments, inventions and science fun.  Parent volunteers review each project and provide feedback to our future engineers, entrepreneurs and inventors!

Sister School and Community Outreach Farmland PTA periodically collects school supplies, holiday gifts, books or necessities for our Sister School, Harmony Hills.

Spirit Wear Get in the spirit and wear your official “Farmland” spirit wear! All proceeds support Farmland PTA programs.

Staff Appreciation Events Farmland PTA is proud to recognize the dedication and efforts of our amazing school staff by hosting a back to school lunch, birthday cakes for staff, Staff Appreciation Week events and other small “tokens of appreciation” throughout the school year including supplemental staff instructional funds.

Student Directory A must-have resource for playdates and birthday parties!  Be sure you are  IN THE BOOK!

Yearbook A must-have “end of the year” keepsake comprised of class photos, individual photos and fantastic candids of the various events throughout the year.  Volunteers needed to help with catching photos, editing class pages and managing yearbook orders.
